Toole Design Group in Pittsburgh PA is looking to hire an experienced and talented fulltime Senior Engineer (Civil /Roadway). A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineer (Civil /Roadway)

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You lead support and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as MicroStation to fulfill production work on your projects. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients to develop feasibility studies concept plans and construction documents as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.

You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging but you get to work with a closeknit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.

Qualifications of a Senior Engineer (Civil /Roadway):

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in civil engineering
  • Professional engineering license
  • 10 years of experience developing construction documents for roadways or highways
  • 2 years of experience serving in a project or design management role
  • Experience preparing transportation and local agency permit documents
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation InRoads MicroStation OpenRoads Experience coordinating utility rightofway street lighting traffic signals and landscape and hardscape layout
  • Experience developing construction documents and cost estimates
  • Experience working on engineering projects in one or more of the following agencies: PennDOT (strongly preferred) City of Pittsburgh City of Philadelphia
  • Exposure to construction management is a plus
  • Experience analyzing and designing stormwater infrastructure is a plus
  • Experience using stormwater design software such as HydroCAD or HydroFlow is a plus
  • Having a strong interest in multimodal and active transportation design is preferred
  • Experience using PennDOTs Engineering and Construction Management System (ECMS) is a plus

Work Schedule for a Senior Engineer (Civil /Roadway):

This fulltime position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 23 days per week. The Pittsburgh office of Toole Design is conveniently located in Market Square in the heart of Downtown. It is blocks from multiple bus routes on the future BRT route and near the Wood Street T stop. The office is easily accessed on foot by bicycle and via transit.
