Salary:per 5 credits
Classification:Adjunct Faculty
Reports to:Dean of Business & Technology

This teaching position is located at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The teaching schedule is in person and occurs daily during a designated timeframe.

Olympic College is recruiting adjunct faculty to teach courses in Leadership and Business Management (LBM) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS). Parttime positions at the college are open continuous and reviewed on a quarterbyquarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Olympic College is a public twoyear community college accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that educates more than 13000 students a year. Olympic College is located on the scenic Kitsap Peninsula across the Puget Sound from the city of Seattle. Kitsap is surrounded by 236 miles of saltwater shoreline and is centrally located between the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges affording spectacular views of mountains and water from every vantage point.

Essential Functions

  • Teach daily in person during a designated timeframe collegelevel course(s) in accordance with college catalog schedule of classes course outlines course syllabi and any departmental guidelines;
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading;
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested;
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required;
  • May include evening instruction;
  • Punctual communication with students faculty and staff;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in organizational leadership and management or related field.
  • Three 3 years of successful experience working in a leadership position in a medium or largesized organization.

Desired Qualifications
  • Teaching experience either at the college level or demonstrated teaching experience teaching adults in other capacities.

  • Effectively teach and impart excitement and enthusiasm in teaching courses;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background as well as the experienced student desiring to further their careers;
  • Utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success;
  • Teach and contribute through actions or in any other way to the colleges diversity;
  • Function as a team player;
  • Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation;
  • Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals
  • Appropriately incorporate the use of computer information technology in the delivery of services;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission diversity and learningcentered climate;
  • Uphold Olympic College values and ethics are necessary to maintain a positive climate.

Faculty members mustsubmitofficial unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within30 daysof their employment.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis.Placement on the faculty salary schedule will becommensuratewith educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE).Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department.Evening and/or weekend classes instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses and offcampus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.

Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon theirinitialhireAdjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a fulltime load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible.Additionalhours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement.
