POSITION SUMMARY
The Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist will be responsible for the day to day of LOA administration for intermittent short term long term and complex leaves. This Specialist will report to the Human Resources Director/Manager and work with the Human Resources Business Partners in the processing and handling of various HR functions directly related to Leave of Absence Compliance Daily reporting and data maintenance. This role will be point of contact for education of staff in leave disability management policies procedures and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the consistent delivery of highlevel service and appropriate application of policies. Serve as a subject matter expert for all aspects of Leave of Absence policies practices and processes.
2. Responsible for tracking all Leave of Absence documentation notifications correspondence and administration details accurately and in a timely manner
3. Act as a resource to educate HR staff department management and staff employees on Leave of Absence (LOA) policies procedures and federal and state requirements; as well as to aid in employees understanding of benefits offered and eligibility requirements through individual and group meetings or training sessions. Support and develop competence among HR staff to answer questions.
4. Analyze review update develop and/or contribute to LOA related policies and related forms communications or documents as appropriate. Administer implementation coordination and roll out.
5. Evaluate and administer legal and regulatory changes and formulate recommendations for policy practice or process changes as appropriate.
6. Partner with HR Business Partners to address employee issues. Formulate recommend and influence implementation of process communications and or programming modifications where such changes may also alleviate the issue.
7. Serve as subject matter expert in the implementation of LOA system implementation and ensure efficiencies post implementation. Provide training education and HRIS support as it relates to LOA system tracker.
8. Explore recommend and coordinate implementation of Leave of Absence (LOA) program and process improvement.
9. Ensure maintenance of accurate and complete LOA records files and reporting in accordance with company processes policies and procedures as well as any applicable regulatory information.
10. Complete daily tasks that are not limited to; Process and mail LOA approval and denial letters Update and Maintain Leave of Absence tracker communicate with managers and HR Business Partners on the status of employees on LOA assists employees with FMLA and leave of absence questions.
11. Process Employment Development Department wage requests.
12. Work with HR Manager and HR Business Partner to ensure applicable forms tools process and policies are current and appropriate based upon requirements and changes to Federal or State laws.
13. Review and understand policies procedures laws standards or regulations pertaining to Leave of Absence in the State of California and MLKCH.
14. Provide assistance and support to benefits and HR compliance administration as needed.
15. Perform regular selfaudits to ensure accuracy and data integrity related to benefits Licensure and LOA.
16. Use individual discretion to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
17. Other duties as assigned.
