The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in cultivating a supportive efficient and valuesaligned work environment at MISSSEY. Reporting to the Operations Manager the HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources functions including recruitment onboarding employee relations payroll coordination benefits and compliance. This role ensures that HR systems and practices align with our traumainformed and healingcentered culture while supporting staff wellbeing and professional growth.

The ideal candidate is:

  • A strong administrator with at least 2 years of experience in human resources ideally in a nonprofit or missiondriven setting.
  • Highly organized detailoriented and capable of managing competing priorities with professionalism and empathy.
  • Passionate about working in service of Black girls and genderexpansive youth impacted by sexual exploitation.
  • Knowledgeable about employment law HR systems and best practices in traumainformed HR.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport across teams maintain confidentiality and support a healthy missionaligned workplace culture.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration 80

  • Lead recruitment hiring onboarding and offboarding processes in collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Maintain compliance with labor laws contracts and agency policies. Ensure staff complete mandatory training (e.g. safety harassment prevention).
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Administer employee benefits leave payroll coordination and personnel recordkeeping.
  • Support employee relations including conflict resolution disciplinary meetings and investigations.
  • Maintain and update HRIS and systems in alignment with best practices and organizational needs.
  • Stay informed on federal state and local labor laws COVID19 protocols and HR innovations.
  • Champion employee engagement and wellness initiatives that foster a supportive culture.

Supervision 10

  • May supervise and collaborate with other administrative staff in the department especially during leadership transitions or staff absences.

Organizational Support 10

  • Collaborate across departments to support organizationwide initiatives and cultural development.
  • Guide and participate in collaborative processes to improve internal systems and workflows.
  • Handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Support the implementation of agency goals and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of administrative support experience in a nonprofit or missiondriven setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience in human resources or HR administration.
  • Experience working in environments serving Black and Brown girls women and genderexpansive youth is highly preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite required.
  • Bachelors degree in human resources business administration or related field preferred (equivalent work experience accepted).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of employment law HR best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong problemsolving and conflictresolution abilities.
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and respond to sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Deep commitment to equity traumainformed practice and youth empowerment.
  • Ability to manage systems and develop administrative processes that reflect MISSSEYs values.
  • Knowledge of commercial sexual exploitation atrisk youth populations and survivorled service models is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Prolonged use of computers and technology including typing and digital communications.
  • Shared office space; occasional outdoor activities or offsite meetings.

Required Licenses & Clearances

  • Valid drivers license reliable vehicle proof of liability insurance and clean driving record.
  • Criminal background check fingerprint clearance
  • TB clearance and COVID19 vaccination is mandatory.
