Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuges provide women and children with urgent safe accommodation when they have nowhere else to go. 54 reasons are one of the largest providers of DFV refuge services in Queensland be part of this dynamic network of teams working together to deliver high quality support to women and children escaping violence.

A place to make a difference:
In this permanent part time position 9 days per fortnight) youll work within a team to provide specialist support to children and their families within the DFV refuge program. Youllprovide intervention and support to children who have witnessedDFVand collaborate with their carer implementing 54 Reasons Child iView framework. As part of the SEQ DFV Refuge team youll work shifts from 8:30am 4:30pm weekdays and report to a Team Leader.
You will make a difference by:
- Directly supporting children and young people accessing crisis accommodation with their immediate needs after experiencing DFV
- Conducting individual and group activities that will support parent/child attachment and healthy developmentand transitions
- Enhancing child focused practice in the region both within 54 reasons and more broadly in the community
- Connecting families with the services they need and providing appropriate referrals
Does this sound like you
You have experience within the domestic and family violence sector and are passionate about childrens rights. You know how to respond well in crisis and how to work with children who have experienced to work independently and take initiative while working within the role boundaries.
It is a genuine requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25 104 and 105 of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1991.
This role requires:
- Degree qualification in Childrens Services or relevant Human Services field (or significant experience in a similar service)
- Solid understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children and young people
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young people from a childcentred framework
- Current drivers licence
