You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Denver Department of Safety is seeking an Administrative Investigator. The selected candidate will be responsible for administrative investigations related to conduct and employment concerning alleged violations of Denver Sheriff Department policies procedures orders directives and Career Service Rules.
The pay range for this position is between $36.4546.47 per hour pending education and experience.
This position will be housed at 200 West 14th Avenue Denver Colorado but there will be some commuting required to consult and meet with employees and inmates at multiple facilities in Denver.
Flexible schedule that consists of a MondayFriday work week. However since detention facilities are 24hour operations some meetings may occur at varying hours to accommodate business needs.
Successful candidates must complete and pass a background investigation that encompasses the applicants employment and criminal history.
Job responsibilities will include:
Locating and interviewing individuals including but not limited to complainants employees witnesses inmates within Denvers correctional facilities and management personnel.
Determine investigative techniques and case strategies related to the investigation of misconduct.
Serve as a fact finder by gathering evidence to prove or disprove misconduct that includes but is not limited to interviews video and documentation.
Inputting information into a case management system to be utilized by supervisory and/or management staff as well as other entities.
Prepare spreadsheets or summary charts on voluminous data and information and prepares reports of investigative findings for future consideration and management of a case.
Organize case strategies in conjunction with appropriate parties including but not limited to Department of Safety personnel the Office of the Independent Monitor the Conduct Review Unit and the City Attorneys Office.
Make presentations of findings to agency management including but not limited to the Denver Sheriff the Executive Director of Safety the Independent Monitor the Conduct Review Unit and other appropriate stakeholders.
Deliver testimony.
At times provide guidance and assistance to Sheriffs deputies on investigative matters.
Prepare summary reports related to administrative investigations.
Our ideal candidate will have:
The ability to learn and understand department policies procedures rules and directives in order to prove or disprove an allegation of misconduct.
Demonstrated ability to identify connections/linkages that point to where evidence of law violations or misconduct can be found.
Ability to summarize an investigation and to place information in a format that allows a reviewer to identify potential misconduct and make a determination of whether evidence exists to sustain not sustain unfound or exonerate an allegation.
Previous experience investigating internal affairs matters employee relations civil white collar and/or criminal cases.
Proficiency in a second language.
Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:
Education Requirement: Bachelors Degree in Business or Public Administration Criminal Justice Corrections Psychology Sociology or a related field.
Experience Requirement: Three 3 years of experience conducting comprehensive investigations of cases.
Education and Experience Equivalency: One 1 year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of posthigh school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
License/Certification Requirement: By position requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
