The Support Automation team at OpenAI scales the organization by applying cuttingedge AI models to realworld challenges automating and enhancing work across the organization. From customer operations to engineering we develop an ecosystem of automation products that empower our colleagues and drive impact. Were passionate about crafting products that serve those around us blending rapid prototyping with a focus on longterm quality and reliability. By creating reusable solutions we create patterns that can be applied across diverse domains within OpenAI.

TLDR: this team leverages OpenAI technology to improve OpenAI and youll have the opportunity to leverage the full extent of our tech (both public and prereleased) to accomplish this mission.

About the Role

Were seeking our first Engineering Manager Support Automation whos excited about leading a team to create intuitive impactful and innovative user experiences. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a handson dynamic environment driving both the teams vision and technical . You will be the founding leader of this organization and therefore will have the opportunity to shape the craft of this team in one of the most innovative companies in the world. Youll mentor a talented team of engineers oversee project planning and ensure delivery of highquality interfaces that push the limits of whats possible with AI. If youre passionate about blending leadership with deep technical expertise this role could be a great fit.

In this role you will:

• Lead mentor and develop a team of engineers to build impactful products with a focus on performance scalability and delight.

• Oversee the endtoend product lifecycle from ideation and rapid prototyping through to productionready deployment.

• Collaborate closely with product design and crossfunctional partners to align on vision priorities and .

• Facilitate technical planning code reviews and ensure highquality code and UI standards across projects.

• Balance the needs of rapid iteration with the implementation of sustainable maintainable solutions.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have 7 years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in a people management role within a tech or productfocused organization.

• Are highly proficient in modern frontend technologies like TypeScript React and related web standards and are skilled in using design tools such as Figma.

• Enjoy the challenge of transforming conceptual ideas into productionready products with a deep appreciation for design and user experience.

• Bring a startup mindset excelling in fastpaced environments where priorities and objectives can shift. You will be hands on AND leading the details will matter

• Are passionate about applying AI to solve realworld problems and creating interfaces that delight users.

• Excel in fostering a culture of collaboration ownership and continuous improvement.
