Position Title: Assistant Girls Field Hockey Coach
Reports to: JV Head Coach Athletic Director
Job Type: PartTime / Seasonal
Position Preview:
The ideal candidate will have a deep passion and knowledge of the sport as well as a commitment to handson studentcentered coaching practices with the ability to demonstrate proper technique.

Position Summary:
The Field Hockey season starts August 11 2025 and runs through approximately November 1 2025. Teams practice every weekday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on nongame days. The Assistant Girls Field Hockey Coach supports the JV Head Coach in developing and managing the Girls Field Hockey team. The assistant coach will provide instruction mentorship and supervision to studentathletes helping to foster their growth in Field Hockey skills teamwork and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will also ensure the smooth running of practices and games in coordination with the head coach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in Practice Planning and : Help design and run practices that focus on developing players technical skills fitness and game understanding.
- Game Day Support: Assist the head coach in managing game day operations including player warmups substitutions and tactical adjustments.
- Skill Development: Provide individual attention to players to improve their skills and understanding of the game.
- Communication: Foster positive relationships with players coaches and parents providing clear communication about team expectations and schedules.
- Player Evaluations: Help evaluate player performance during practices and games offering feedback and support for continued development.
- Promote Sportsmanship and Teamwork: Reinforce values of respect sportsmanship and teamwork both on and off the field.
- Support Safety Protocols: Assist in ensuring player safety by following all health and safety guidelines during practices and games.
- Equipment and Setup: Help with field setup collecting equipment and maintaining team gear as needed.
Collaboration with JV Head Coach: Work closely with the head coach to align with the teams strategy goals and coaching philosophy.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience playing or coaching Field Hockey at the high school or youth level preferred.
- Knowledge of Field Hockey: Solid understanding of Field Hockey rules strategies and techniques.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to connect with and motivate high school athletes.
- CIF Coaching Requirements: Must hold current CIF/NFHS certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policy.
