Key Responsibilities
- Conduct street outreach in the downtown area of Lafayette and surrounding areas engaging with unhoused individuals and families.
- Develop and maintain trusting supportive relationships with clients ensuring their needs are understood and addressed.
- Conduct needs assessments and assist clients in accessing services offered by Catholic Charities of Acadiana (CCA).
- Advocate for medical and other essential services on behalf of clients.
- Provide transportation services to clients when necessary.
- Document client interactions and ensure accurate timely recordkeeping.
- Attend required training and professional development sessions as directed by the supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support outreach efforts and client needs.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma/GED (Bachelors degree preferred).
- At least 2 years of service coordination or related social service experience.
- Knowledge of homelessness and housing programs is a plus.
- Previous experience providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness is highly desirable.
- Strong problem resolution and deescalation skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and behavior in challenging oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Louisiana drivers license and access to an insured motor vehicle for transporting clients.
