Job Title: Laboratory Sciences Professional (Open Rank: Entry Principal)
Position #: Requisition #: 36651
Job Summary:
The primary duties of this full time position will be to perform molecular biology biochemistry and/or structural biology and cell culture experiments designed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of premRNA splicing and its role in disease as well as the structure and function of the Six1/Eya transcriptional complex for anticancer drug design.
Key responsibilities:
- Molecular biology experiments including subcloning and mutagenesis
- Protein and/or RNA expression and purification
- Biochemical and biophysical analyses of protein/protein interaction and/or enzyme function
- Mammalian cell culture experiments
- Evaluate small molecule compounds in biochemical and cell culture experiments
- If interested the PRA can learn to prepare EM grids collect data and determine the cryoEM structure ofprotein orproteinRNA complexes
- Assistance in basic operation of lab including preparation of solutionsand autoclaving material

Entry Professional:
- Bachelors degree in chemistry biology molecular biology or a related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis

Intermediate Professional:
- Bachelors degree in chemistry biology molecular biology or a related field

- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis
- Three 3 years professional level research experience
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field
- One 1 to Two 2 years of experience or background within an experimental or wet lab
- Prior experience in analytical chemistry especially ultrahigh pressure liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry

The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
