Delawares Attorney General the States chief law enforcement officer has a broad responsibility to combat crime uphold civil rights safeguard families fight fraud and protect consumers in the First State.

In meeting this mission Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal Civil Family Fraud and Consumer Protection and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.

Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.

Summary Statement

The Criminal Division Kent County seeks dedicated attorneys to join the Special Victims Unit as Deputy Attorneys General. This impactful role focuses on advocating for vulnerable victims and ensuring justice through expert prosecution thorough investigations and compassionate support. The position includes a $3000 annual specialist stipend.

Essential Functions

These Deputy Attorneys General will manage caseloads involving sexual s as well as cases of child death abuse and neglect. They will attend victim interviews at the Childrens Advocacy Center (CAC) and conduct pre and postarrest intakes with investigators. In collaboration with medical professionals detectives and child welfare professionals they will investigate these cases evaluate evidence for charging decisions and prosecute crimes supported by the evidence. Additionally they will share oncall responsibilities with other Deputy Attorneys General to assist police with afterhours investigations.

Job Requirements

Strengths for these positions include the ability to manage complex investigations; an interest in and willingness to learn and understand medical evidence; strong judgment in evaluating and resolving criminal cases; and the capacity to anticipate and effectively research legal and medical issues in litigation. Successful candidates must be able to establish strong working relationships with detectives medical personnel child welfare professionals other Deputy Attorneys General support staff and court personnel. Candidates should also be prepared to independently try serious cases and apply relevant laws and court rules. Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
