Main Purpose of Job
This is an entry level position in Public Services which serves as the front line connectionbetween the Department of Natural Resources and its constituency.
Public Services is responsible for 1 sport hunting and fishing license sales 2 vesselregistration titling and excise tax collection 3 commercial tidal fish license renewals andtransfers 4 the issuance of offroad vehicle permits and 5 the licensing and monitoringof boat dealers and sport license agents.
POSITION DUTIES
The Department of Natural Resources Licensing & Registration Service is currently accepting applications for a Licensing & Registration Technician I. This is an entry level customer service position located in Frederick MD. Licensing and Registration Technicians provide customer assistance in person by phone mail and email relating to the processing of recreational hunting and fishing licenses commercial fishing licenses vessel registration including titling and excise tax collection and other available products.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of bookkeeping or nonprofessional accounting or customer service related work. Customer service related work may include experience in public contact areas such as wholesale or retail sales.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience involving titling and registering boats and issuing hunting and fishing licenses and permits on a yearforyear basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer in ComplianceInspection and Support classifications or Compliance Inspection and Support specialty codes in the Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance field of work on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience involving titling and registering boats.
- Experience issuing hunting and fishing licenses and permits.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
