Our client Ceramic Decor located in Guelph is longstanding leader in the supply and installation of ceramic tile in the TriCities area. They are seeking an experienced and detailoriented Bookkeeper (this role is onsite in Guelph).
With over 40 years in business and the largest retail showroom in Southwestern Ontario they are known for their outstanding service quality and reliability in the new home industry.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Business Operations Manager the bookkeeper will be responsible for the full cycle of accounting functions including general ledger maintenance month end duties AR Payroll and AP support. The ideal candidate is highly organized meticulous with numbers and experienced in producing timely and accurate accounting information to support the companys operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including bank cash and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage and monitor Accounts Receivables duties.
- Prepare and process weekly payroll including remittance of source deductions (CRA WSIB EHT etc..
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for all transactions in compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Contribute accurate information for month and yearend financial statement preparation and audits.
- Track and record HST and other government filings.
- Oversee internal bookkeeping procedures and implement improvements where applicable.
- Provide accounting support to operations and administration teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for capital assets and depreciation.
- Perform journal entries and adjustments to ensure accurate monthend and yearend closings.
- Assist in maintaining employee records related to payroll vacation tracking and statutory entitlements.
- Handle miscellaneous general office administration as required.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting Business Administration Bookkeeping is preferred.
- 23 years of hands on experience with full cycle accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency with Sage 50; familiarity POS systems. Including pulling reports.
- Experience with payroll with strong knowledge of Canadian payroll compliance and the Employment Standards Act 2000 (Ontario).
- Solid understanding of HST WSIB and source deductions.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and comfort with MS Office applications (Word Outlook).
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in construction or trades industry experience is an asset.
