Development Associate

Northwestern Hillel

Role Overview

Are you an organized actionoriented person who loves connecting people to meaningful causes Bring your passion for Jewish community to Northwestern Hillel as our Development Associate!

As a key part of Northwestern Hillels awardwinning professional team youll manage the annual campaign and donor stewardship coordinate donor and alumni events research and manage grant applications and communicate Hillels vision and story to key constituencies. Reporting to the Director of Development and working in close partnership with the Executive Director you will help Northwestern Hillel to sustain and grow the financial resources necessary to advance our work of supporting a thriving Jewish community on campus.

What Youll Do

  • Execute the annual campaign strategy (and maintain annual campaign / donor communications calendar) in close collaboration with Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Support planning and of all developmentrelated events including new student welcome events parlor meetings and developmentrelated Hillel programs
  • Partner with the Director of Development and Executive Director to identify cultivate solicit and steward a portfolio of current and future donors
  • Engage in outreach and nurture strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders including alumni parents community members and university partners
  • Identify foundations and other grant opportunities and apply for financial support
  • Attend Hillels major student programs including some Shabbat and holiday celebrations interfacing with students community partners and stakeholders
  • Advise Hillel staff and student leaders on sponsorship opportunities and fundraising initiatives including recruiting training and mobilizing students to partner in Hillels development efforts
  • Assist Director of Development in partnering with Hillels Board of Directors and Development Committee toward the achievement of all fundraising goals
  • Draft and prepare multichannel donor correspondence strategy and marketing collateral including management of direct mail appeals
  • Write and produce donor materials including briefings proposals and reports
  • Administer the development database and ensure data entry and gift processing is precise accurate and timely
  • Manage donor stewardship including timely and accurate gift acknowledgements donor/alumni engagement events and more
  • Collect student photos stories and testimonials to illustrate Hillels impact to stakeholders
  • Conduct prospect research and coordinate prospect meetings for Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Prepare internal fundraising reports and donor reports for the Director of Development Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Participate in local and national networking and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other administrative responsibilities as assigned

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 05 years development experience
  • Superior written and verbal skills effective at communicating Hillels vision and story with a variety of stakeholders
  • Accomplished organizational and time management skills with ability to organize and complete projects accurately efficiently and ontime
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Jewish community culture heritage and traditions
  • Strong data analysis and budgeting skills
  • An artistic eye for graphic design preferred (Canva)
  • A serious work ethic sense of humor and willingness to take risks and learn from unexpected situations
  • Able to quickly and genuinely create connections with and between staff students and stakeholders
  • Comfort working collaboratively or independently
  • Eagerness to learn about nonprofit fundraising and development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Little Green Light or other CRM platforms preferred

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $50000$55000.
