Job Description
FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and landgrant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of temporary full time Instructor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences.
FVSU the only 1890 landgrant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365acre 5.52 km2 campus is Georgias secondlargest public university in area.
The Department of Languages and Liberal Studies Media Studies Organizational Leadership and Visual and Performing Arts offers a broadbased liberal arts curriculum that balances theory research professional practice and critical inquiry and prepares students to become innovative professional and ethical communicators ready to thrive in a rapidly evolving field and interdisciplinary industries.

This position is fulltime nontenure track with an anticipated start date of August 1 2024. We expect to fill two vacancies with this announcement. These positions will teach undergraduate facetoface English courses (and fully online or hybrid format undergraduate English courses as needed).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach English courses primarily Composition I and Composition II (and World Literature I and II as needed). Teaching load is 1215 credit hours.
- Instructors must be present on campus a minimum of three 3 days per week and maintain no fewer than ten 10 office hours per week.
- Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning stimulate class discussions and ensures student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
- 18 graduate hours in English course work or specifically related area.
- Experience teaching in a traditional classroom setting.
- Documented ability to teach.
- Documented ability to foster relationships with students and colleagues.
- Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
