Job Summary
Provides academic assistance oneonone and/or in a group setting to students enrolled in specific courses.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience: Education and Experience: Successful completion of the course(S) you wish to tutor as demonstrated by a grade of A or B earned within the past one to two years. Recommendation of an LBCC instructor in the subject area tutoring. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the courses tutored. Must have overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and no serious student conduct/disciplinary history. Knowledge and Skills: Requires strong academic competence in the courses tutored as determined by course instructor. Must have welldeveloped interpersonal communication skills and study group facilitation skills. Abilities: Requires the ability to independently perform the essential responsibilities of the position. Must have the ability to learn and employ effective tutoring methods to meet tutor program objectives. Requires the ability to respond sensitively to diverse student needs. Requires ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer candidates who have experience facilitating group learning experiences. Prefer candidates who are knowledgeable about study skills and group communication theory.
