Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Clinic Operations and in coordination with the Dental Director the Dental Program Manager is responsible for managing nonclinical functions of the dental program and providing administrative oversight of dental

services. The Dental Program Manager oversees dental operations at multiple sites including supervision of dental support staff and is accountable for assuring patient satisfaction and positive morale.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manages daily operations of the dental practice; including staff scheduling appointment scheduling billing maintenance of equipment and facilities financial personnel maintenance and purchasing functions.

2. Recruits hires and trains dental support staff in coordination with human resource department and according to collective bargaining agreement.

3. Assures adequate dental clinic resources staffing and operations to provide excellent patient care. Standardizes procedures and initiates change where necessary; consistently reviews procedures to strive for more efficient ways to conducts business and improves patient relations.

4. Provides nonclinical oversight of the electronic dental record system to assure accurate and efficient data capture.

5. Ensures dental practice is in compliance with federal state and other requirements by monitoring clinic operations to assure compliance with SPLG protocols applicable laws and regulations while maintaining high quality care and service.

6. Maintains efficient work flow throughout the practice by implementing and evaluating procedures which

8. Leads quality assurance and quality improvement functions for dental program in accordance with SPLG policy and practice standards.

9. Manages patient complaints with guidance from licensed professional staff and Medical or Dental director as necessary.

10. Provides support with administrative planning activities; including but not limited to: clinic budget audits and strategic planning.

11. Complies with Equal Employment Opportunity Americans with Disabilities Act Affirmative Action Plan and other applicable employment laws and regulations in the supervision of staff.

12. Develops and implements onthejob training programs for new and current employees as required; ensures dental support staff obtain required training and certification.

13. Assures all patients services are confidential.

14. In coordination with Human Resources documents and conducts disciplinary actions and provides recommendations for training and development of support staff in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement when applicable.

15. Support the accomplishment of the organization strategic plan to achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance.

16. Consistently adhere to and/or exceed SPLGs communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including coworkers patients and external partners.

17. Communicate effectively by using welcoming words proper tone of voice appropriate body language eye contact and smiling in all interactions. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and coworkers needs expectations and values through the use of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to coworker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation.

18. Ensure a productive work environment and achievement of goals through strategies and practices in line with the CARE fundamentals of communication.

Requirements

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Knowledge of: dental program management for community health centers; health care delivery systems administrative practices organizational principles and procedures health information technology including electronic health and dental record systems; customer service and patient centered health home principles; and government funding regulations and reimbursement policies.


Ability to: comprehend and interpret complex regulations and guidelines; plan direct evaluate and improve clinical operations; perform job duties accurately effectively and in a timely manner; work effectively with staff patients public and external agencies use and train on standard technology systems such as Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems; write and speak effectively; make group presentations; maintain absolute confidentiality; communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different racial ethnic and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles demonstrating a knowledge and sensitivity to their needs; maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with agency staff clients other community agencies revenue sources and the public.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in public health human services or related area; or equivalent experience
  • Three years of dental program clinic or medical group operations experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity preferably a community health center or public agency
  • Strong supervisory skills required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Possession of a valid CA Drivers license and insurance
