Head Mens Womens Golf Coach

Position Summary

Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The head coach is responsible for coaching/mentoring studentathletes technically and tactically on the course as well as guiding them through academic achievement and personal development. The coach is also responsible for actively recruiting and retaining studentathletes in addition to supervision of their program staff. The head coach reports to the Interim Vice President/Athletic Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

Coaching/mentoring:

• Develop and communicate goals expectations and accountability to help maintain high standard of performance ethics and sportsmanship on the field in the classroom and in the community.
• Create a relationship built on the sincere interest in each studentathletes academic athletic and personal pursuits.
• Be prepared to collaborate with other college staff when/if necessary.
• Plan organize and facilitate individual and team training and competition.
• Study and implement strategy and skills needed to prepare for competition.
• Learn know and abide by NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
• Lead in a way that positively reflects the mission and vision of the institution.

Recruiting:

• Develop a strategic plan to identify and evaluate talent that would be a good fit for Walsh University.
• Create relationships with prospective studentathletes their families clubs and high school coaches.
• Build and maintain prospect database through recruiting events and camps/clinics.
• Organize and work collaboratively with admissions to bring quality studentathletes on campus.
• Reach/Manage enrollment number

Other duties:

• Effectively manage operating budget with a balanced budget mentality.
• Organize transportation practices and all travel preparations for both programs.
• Identify and purchase program equipment with AD approval.
• Establish and maintain an alumni relationship.
• Be creative and willing to fundraise to support operating budget.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

Must understand and support the Mission Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae and possess the following:

Education:

Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree encouraged.

Work Experience:

At least 13 years coaching experience or other significant experience relative to coaching golf and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program.

Skills and abilities:

• Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
• First Aid CPR AED certification required.

• Ability to work collaboratively with game day operations possibility lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand in the outdoors/elements for 3 hours.
• Ability to think critically and problem solve.
