As a Network Development Engineer you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and mentor other engineers. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will help invent new features design develop and deploy reliable distributed services. You will work with a variety white box networking hardware and Linux based networking operating systems.

You will tackle challenging situations every day and youll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity thats higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems. Along the way we guarantee that youll learn a ton have fun and make a positive impact on many customers.

Key job responsibilities
* Identifying developing and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of our wired networks.
* Understanding customer needs and creating technical solutions leveraging wired networking technologies.
* Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable them with scalable resilient and cost optimized solutions.
* Dive deep on complex problems that identify root causes of our customer impacts developing and delivering corrective actions.
* Evaluate new technologies lab test/certify solutions conduct proof of concepts run books definition and lead pilot deployments.
* Innovate and automate infrastructure testing deployment operations and life cycle management.
* Define the strategy for future team processes and tools which improve how we maintain and manage the infrastructure effectively efficiently and safely.
* Contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon.

The Just Walk Out (JWO) Networking team is responsible for the hardware and software systems deployed to physical stores to support the seamless shopping experience that is Just Walk Out. As a Network Development Engineer working in AWS Apps / JWO Stores you will have end to end ownership developing our network architecture hardware and software. We are looking for individuals who are not satisfied with the status quo and look to push the limits of technology. You will create new solutions to solve new customer challenges streamline operations and enhance the reliability of our networks.

3 years of automation scripting using Python Bash Shell and/or Perl experience
8 years of major internet routing protocols experience
5 years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience

Experience designing distributed retail networking solutions utilizing L2 and L3 protocols.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
