Emergency Preparedness Specialist
The Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Emergency Preparedness Specialist position improves the capability of public health to prepare for respond to and recover from incidents that impact the health of our community. The position coordinates with other program staff and response agencies in Benton and Franklin Counties and eastern Washington regions in planning training and exercise activities to prepare for events like disease outbreaks severe weather and other threats of public health concern. The position responds to public health incidents and supports recovery activities. The position develops tests evaluates and improves internal response plans to enhance the districts ability to respond to any type of incident. The EPS Specialist position reports to the Emergency Preparedness Program Operations Supervisor. Expected to perform the full range of professional duties to ensure compliance with Emergency Preparedness program deliverables. Incumbents conduct planning exercise coordination and emergency response activities using independent judgement and evaluation; have demonstrated an understanding of Emergency Preparedness principles as well as program policies and procedures. Incumbents may independently develop content for and facilitate partner meetings trainings and exercises and may mentor new employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This position is expected to apply broad knowledge of the principles practices and current developments related to public health preparedness and response familiar and capable of utilizing several software applications including but not limited to: Word Excel Outlook Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Teams Visio and more.
The Requirements & Selection Process
Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a Masters degree in public health emergency management or closely related field plus one year of work experience in public health preparedness and response or emergency management; OR a Bachelors degree in public health emergency management or a closely related field and three years of work experience in public health preparedness and response emergency management or a closely related field.
Additional Requirements: Possession of a valid Washington State drivers license ability to drive an automobile and have an insured vehicle available for work related travel; a driving record acceptable to the Districts insurance carrier; ICS 100 200 and 700 or equivalent certifications
