The Senior Engineer Software is part of a team working in an Agile/Scrum software development environment specializing in healthcare solutions based in Gloucestershire.
The Senior Engineer Software will have a high degree of knowledge and experience for a range of software development disciplines and will share this experience and knowledge to provide expertlevel insight for software development activities. They will be involved in figuring out most appropriate technological ways of implementing new features and enhancing existing ones and will work closely with the Lead System Designer/Product Design Owner and Software Architect to help continuously improve the teams software development activities.
What Youll do:
- Senior Engineers are collectively responsible for defining educating and implementing the coding standards which the department will observe alongside programming best practice.
- Senior Engineers will also largely dictate acceptable design patterns tools and techniques to be employed to perform common operations such as caching queuing logging persistence and security.
- All activities in the SDLC will be undertaken and the Senior Engineers should be capable of anticipating performance and scalability issues preimplementation.
- The Senior Engineer is also required to undertake 3rdline support tasks diagnosing and rectifying issues on customer systems.
We are looking for someone who:
- A minimum of 5 years commercial experience with PHP relational databases (MySQL / MS SQL Server) and frontend web technologies
- Experience with jQuery and other JavaScript frameworks
- The ability to effectively communicate in a clear positive and professional manner to all levels from customers and peers to director level
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- High level of computer literacy
- The ability to explain technical solutions clearly
- Motivation to continue to improve ones own knowledge and skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
Qualifications / skills
- Computer Science degree or equivalent qualifications/experience
Desirable
- Experience with Laravel framework
- Experience with Neo4j
- Experience with version control (preferably Git)
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum
- Experience with Docker Kubernetes and Jenkins
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of the healthcare sector including software products designed for clinical use
- PHP certification
- Experience with Zend framework
- Python
- Java
