Hours: 40 hours/week
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Supervises: N/A
Salary Range: $43888 (Grant funded position 5 Years)
The purpose of Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers 21st CCLC) grant is to provide services and activities to help students improve in academics attendance behavior and promotion rates. This federally funded grant program supports highquality OutofSchool time learning opportunities.
Primary Responsibility
The Youth Support Specialist under supervision of the Site Coordinator facilitates and leads programs and activities in accordance with program and center policies.
Essential Functions:
Ability to lead and supervise small and large groups of youth (grades kindergarten fourth grade or fifth grade eighth grade) by recognizing potential issues and applying established procedures and problemsolving methods as needed.
Lead participate in and take responsibility for afterschool program activities at assigned site while promoting safety and program quality.
Participate and help create with the team program planning and design.
Prepare and implement lesson plans based on the Ohio Learning Standards and the grant requirements.
Identify needed supplies and resources.
Develop and maintain partnerships and effective communication with agency staff youth their caregivers and school staff.
Attend school meetings open houses and other school functions.
Actively recruit students who are recommended for program by school staff.
Attend Professional Development training as needed.
Ability to be flexible in the event of program changes or agency changes.
Administrative Functions:
Attend all staff agency departmental and community meetings/trainings.
Contribute to departmental and organizational decisionmaking through active participation.
Work effectively and positively in a team environment.
Complete written lesson plans and other additional program data/paperwork as needed for department/agency.
Complete pre and post assessments surveys and questionnaires as needed.
Participates in all Sanctuary trainings and workshops and adheres to the Seven Commitments of Sanctuary.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate degree in education or social services majors psychology sociology social work etc.
One of more years experience working in a school or community based OutofSchool Time organization.
Knowledge of OutofSchool Time programming positive youth development and effective management techniques.
Must have and maintain valid Drivers License.
Must be able to pass a BCI/FBI background check and drug screening.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word and Excel.
Proficient in Zoom and Teams Video Conferencing.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
Physically able to perform job duties daily.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some familiarity with Sanctuary a traumainformed evidencesupported template for system change based on the active creation and maintenance of a nonviolent democratic productive community/workplace to help people heal from trauma.
