Job Description

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in U.S. Customs and International trade with a basic understanding of customs valuation classification compliance/audit and trade programs
  • Indepth knowledge of all U.S. Customs Compliance Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of NAFTA Free Trade Agreements CTPAT additional tariff requirements OGAS ACH and all other related trade legislation rules and regulations
  • Ability to make customers and their needs a primary focus of ones actions; developing and sustaining productive relationships
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multifunctional and diverse backgrounds
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
  • 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) database and webbased applications
  • Good oral and written communication problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice
  • Proficiency on a 10 key calculator

As a Export Agent you will ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment receipt and documentation of imported products while processing separate entries to Custom Border Patrol (US CUSTOMS). You will also compute tariffs (taxes) and price conversions of merchandise imported from foreign destinations. In addition you will also be asked to examine various documents including invoices bills of lading and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
