Are you looking for an opportunity to do meaningful work This is your opportunity to provide crisis intervention evaluations in a 24/7 community crisis center. The Crisis Clinician works with a team to meet and assess needs as people come in the door. The work is varied there is 24/7 supervision support and training is provided. You will also have the opportunity to partner with and work in our local emergency rooms juvenile detention and in the community providing crisis consultations on mental health crisis cases.

The position is fulltime working Sunday Wednesday 4:00 p.m. 2:30 a.m. This position is eligible for employee benefits and we offer licensure supervision.

We offer the following recruitment bonus prorated based on FTE:
  • $2000 bonus for employees new to Marion County starting on January 1 2024 through June 30 2025. Bonus will be included in employees first paycheck.

For those relocating from outside of Oregon we provide the following relocation package:
  • Up to $3000 reimbursement of moving expenses
  • Relocation bonus in the amount of $3000 (prorated based on FTE) as a onetime payment upon proof of Oregon residency.

Wages:
Crisis Clinician 1: $28.67 $38.42 hr
Crisis Clinician 2: $34.78 $46.60 hr

A wage enhancement of $3.00 will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Crisis Clinician2:
Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention and treatment services including intensive services to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community.

Crisis Clinician1:
Plans and carries out recreational social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Crisis Clinician2 and 1:
Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Crisis Clinician2 and 1:
Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Crisis Clinician 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers.

Typical Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following

Counseling to Crisis Clients
Provide counseling by telephone or inperson to individuals and/or their families or concerned others. Intervene with both children and adults. Presenting problems covering the full range of personal needs and include thoughts/plans or violence toward others and major psychiatric illness. Because of the wide spectrum of presenting problems it is necessary to have a comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology and to be able to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic strategies in counseling. This work is done at various locations each day including the Salem Silverton and Santiam Hospital Emergency Departments juvenile detention community outreach and Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC). Driving is required.

Assessment of Mental Status
Perform independent assessment of mental status diagnosis level of functioning dangerousness and specific needs for service. Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization.

Planning Development
Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services. If client is unwilling to seek services make decisions regarding involuntary commitment based on dangerousness and ability to care for self.

Community Coordination
Maintain current knowledge of and contact with community agencies in order to make referrals appropriately. See that clients gain access to the services they need and do followup work as needed to make certain that clients needs are being met.

Other

  • Provide advocacy for client rights ethical consideration needs for service and least restrictive careintervention.
  • Respond to requests for information regarding clients not currently in the CSS requiring a thorough knowledge of laws governing the release of confidential information.
  • Attend monthly BHCC team meeting.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 online or inperson training.

Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  1. Possession of a Masters degree in Psychology Social Work Recreational Therapy Music Therapy Art Therapy or a behavioral science field or possession of a bachelors degree in Nursing and licensed by the State of Oregon or possession of a bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Oregon; ORsecond year graduate students waivered as QMHPs by the Oregon Health Authority.
  2. Crisis Clinician 2 Only: In addition to the educational requirements above the Crisis Clinician 2 must have at least one year of fulltime postMasters degree experience in the behavioral health field.

PREFERENCES
Preference will be awarded to candidates who are LCSW CSWA or eligible for LCSW. Qualified candidates will be eligible for licensure supervision if hired.

AUTOPROMOTE AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF CLASSIFICATION
Individuals hired as a Crisis Clinician 1 will autopromote as noted in Article 4 in the Marion County personnel rules to the classification of Crisis Clinician 2 upon satisfactorily completing oneyear post masters degree of service as a Crisis Clinician 1. (Oneyear of work experience is equal to 2080 hours)

SPECIALREQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of community mental health concepts and/or chemical dependency case management and treatment services; individual assessment treatment planning and treatment protocols; mental health disorders and diagnostic classifications.

Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees individuals and their families other agencies and the public; prepare concise and complete clinical documentation related to individual treatment and progress in services in a timely and professional manner; work within a team and collaborate with team members; knowledge of and ability to act professionally with regard to a code of ethics and confidentiality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts pushes and pulls up to 20 lbs.; carries up to 10 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 20 lbs.; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; works in areas that may be exposed to heat cold humidity dust and chemicals.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program fulltime employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
