Position Title: Planner (Military Activities)
U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) located at McDill AFB Tampa Florida has a unique joint staff planning need focused on integrating and synchronizing DoD military activities with United States Government (USG) strategy. These services include developing inputs to strategies campaign plans and concepts of operation that ultimately translate strategic and operational objectives into a series of related activities and operations to achieve desired end states in coordination with other DoD components USG agencies allies coalition members and regional partners.
The Planner provides strategy plans exercises and policy services in support of unique Joint Planning Team (JPT)/Operational Planning Team (OPT).
Location: U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Headquarters MacDill AFB Tampa Florida
Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI eligible
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts all aspects of the Joint Operational Planning Process including: Mission Analysis Course of Action (COA) Development COA Analysis (Wargaming) COA Comparison and Decision.
- Conducts orderly handover of plans for order development to those tasked with of the Provides staffs with the situational awareness and rationale for key decisions necessary to ensure that there is a coherent transition from planning to .
- Supports the implementation and planning efforts of counterparts in USCENTCOM Component Commands other key Combatant Commands the Joint Staff the Office of Secretary of Defense counterparts in other Federal departments and agencies Allies Coalition members and partner nations.
- Provides technical recommendations to joint planning teams and working groups regarding Joint Planning the Joint Operational Planning Process System Exercise/Training Planning and Joint Develops and delivers briefs to senior leaders on topics within the scope of the task order.
- Provides analyses and recommendations for USCENTCOM implementation and planning efforts involving joint interagency and multinational partners and allies.
- Provides support and assistance to directed joint planning teams and working group for coordination between staff and coalition or regional partner representatives for operations in the USCENTCOM AOR.
- Advises the USCENTCOM Commanders staff (Joint Directorate and below) on strategic and regional concerns.
- Provides analyses recommendations and drafts products for joint planning teams and working group approval in developing of orders analyses estimates and briefings for USCENTCOM leadership and primary staff.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Experience in joint strategic planning.
- Minimum of 3 years of planning experience with comprehensive knowledge of Joint Publication 50.
- Experience in a military or civilian capacity at a Geographic or Functional Combatant Command Headquarters.
- Proficiency in developing joint interagency and multinational activities within identified ways means and ends.
- Experience in planning researching and providing qualitative analysis of kinetic nonkinetic lethal and nonlethal options against state and nonstate adversaries.
- Graduate of Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS) School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW) Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) or Senior Service College and/or experience with Command and Control (C2 information systems is preferred.
- High School Diploma Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Prior USCENTCOM experience is preferred but not required.
- TS/SCI eligible clearance.
