Job Description
George Fox Universitys Plant Services Department is seeking an Architectural Drafter and Design Technician to support campus planning renovation and construction projects.
About the Job:
This role requires expertise in architectural drafting and design utilizing CAD software to assist in developing building plans layouts and design modifications for university facilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience translating conceptual designs into technical drawings ensuring compliance with building codes and university standards. This position will work closely with project managers architects and construction teams to support the universitys mission of provisioning highquality functional and sustainable spaces for students and faculty.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and modifying architectural drawings schematics and blueprints using CAD software.
- Assisting in space planning site analysis and design development for campus projects.
- Ensuring compliance with local building codes zoning regulations and accessibility standards.
- Conducting field measurements and site visits to verify existing conditions.
- Maintaining digital and physical archives of architectural drawings and project documents.
- Collaborating with contractors engineers and university stakeholders on design and construction projects.
- Providing technical support in the development of project proposals and presentations.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and customer service.
- By actions words and lifestyle be a Christian role model to students whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Were looking for candidates who have:
- An Associates degree in Architectural Drafting & Design Architectural Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in architectural drafting design or construction related roles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit or similar drafting software.
- An understanding of building codes materials and construction methods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent Communication and collaboration skills.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:
- Experience with educational or institutional facility design.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification guidelines.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and visualization tools (SketchUp Rhino or Similar).
Job information:
- Hours Per Week: 40 hours
- Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
- Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing bending/stooping climbing stairs crawling crouching climbing ladders kneeling repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
