The Parkland School Division currently has a Continuing Fulltime 1.0 FTE) TeacherFacilitator position available at Centre for Education in Stony Plain Alberta with our Student Supports & Services team. You will support ECS and Early Education Teachers within the Division. Please note: this position will be Probationary for the first year with possible extension for another 2 years after that. For existing PSD Continuing Teachers this will be viewed as a Secondment.

Reporting to the Division Principal of Wellness & Community Partnerships

Function and Purpose of Position
Our teachers collaborate and engage with students parents and our communities to create learning environments to promote student success. You value the inclusion and diversity in our schools along with supporting student wellbeing integrity and fairness to contribute to all students.

As a Teacher Early Education Facilitator your responsibilities and activities will include the following:

Work collaboratively as a member of the Divisions Student Supports & Services team members to provide support and services to enhance learning for all students;

Work collaboratively with schoolbased administrators and ECS/Early Education classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies for achieving Division priorities;

Promote the implementation of Board Administrative Procedures related to ECS and Early Education;

Provide key consultative support to schools for best practices in Early Education and programming related to inclusive education;

Organize and coordinate Divisional professional development opportunities as required;

Supporting the Division Principal with documentation required for the PUF submission and audit;

Encourage and facilitate the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching;

Facilitate the sharing of best practices in the areas of Early and Inclusive Education.


Education and Experience:

a) Education:
i) Bachelor of Education Degree. Masters Degree work in a related field would be an asset.
ii) Education and or proven successful experiences related to Kindergarten and Early Education.
iii) Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

b) Experience:
i) Must be comfortable working with professional colleagues have experience working with Early Years students
ii) Strong verbal written organizational and presentation skills ability to promote cohesion and teamwork
iii) Demonstrate experience as a skilled educator and an instructional leader with a particular focus in Early Childhood


Equivalencies will be considered.

Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
A good sense of humour
The ability to take direction and work independently
Flexibility patience sensitivity tolerance enthusiasm creativity and imagination
The ability to deal with the emotional and mental stress of working with children/group of children/school setting.
Courses or training in Attention Deficit Disorder Special Needs Disorders English as a Second Language Behaviour Management Crisis Prevention Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Food Handling and Preparation would be an asset

This work is most rewarding for those who enjoy working with people (especially physically emotionally and behaviorally challenged children) having clear rules and guidelines for their work and finding innovative ways to handle situations.

Working Conditions
Teachers work indoors except when supervising children outdoors or going on field trips.

Teachers may have a holiday schedule including a long summer break as well as winter and spring breaks. However they typically work over tenmonths and are paid out over twelve months.

The scheduled hours to be worked will be determined by each specific position.

Teachers must agree to respect the confidentiality and personal integrity of students parents teachers and other staff.

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
