System Development Engineer - AWS Networking System Test

Were looking for a System Development Engineer Test role within System Test to develop & test solutions for networking products that form the building blocks of Amazons Cloud Infrastructure.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. As a System Development Engineer in Networking youll have a unique opportunity to shape the development of our network. The Amazon network is a fundamental contributor to the success of Amazon Web Services. It enables us to continue to scale the existing services and to enable new services. Youll be working to relentlessly improve the stability of the existing network and to develop test automation for new hardware and software platforms into the network. You will work closely with our Network Engineering teams to understand features and technical implementation and to develop test plans and test suites that approximate realworld environments.

The ideal candidate has spent some time in a similar role. Experience with industry leading automation and CI/CD tools Ixia Traffic Generators or similar will be a distinct advantage. Youll strive for simplicity and demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment. You have expertise which is both deep and broad; youre hands on producing both detailed technical work and highlevel test architecture.




Key job responsibilities
Ensure the quality of network is continually improving as shown by increasing reliability

Develop an integrated flexible and scalable qualification and regression test system

Write automated test cases to validate network solutions including performance and scale

Simulate complex real world network environments to replicate undesirable behaviors and confirm corrections using data/ traffic generation equipment

Show creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness

Generate hardware and software performance and feature reports

Ensure our software systems can manage provision operate monitor and maintain the network

Organize and archive test data generate performance characteristics of platforms in various network roles and develop automated framework to compare reports and analysis of alternatives.

Build and maintain expert knowledge regarding trends and technologies in the networking industry quality assurance test automation and related fields.

2 years of noninternship professional software development experience
3 years of administrative experience in networking storage systems operating systems and handson systems engineering experience
Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking storage operating systems)
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby

Experience with networking fundamentals including handson experience with load balancers switches routers etc.
Knowledge of Layer 2/3 Internet Protocols Previous network testing experience (Largescale Web ISP or device vendor preferred) Experience in use of network test tools such as Ixia or Spirent Experience in developing and/or working with test automation framework and test harness

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
