Job Description

We are now hiring for a PropaneDelivery Driver for our Syracuse NE location! This position is being offered as fulltime with benefits.


A Propane Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering propane and/or fuel in a safe and efficient manner to customers within a designated territory. The position requires a class B CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements. To ensure your success in this position Frontier Cooperative provides industryspecific training and tools necessary to obtain proper credentials and certifications required for this position.


Essential Duties:

  • Requires a CDL Class B license with HazMat and Tanker endorsements to operate the propane straight trucks the propane tank mover and boom trucks to transport propane fuel and tanks through the trade territory to places of business and customers homes.
  • Prepare propane truck for transfer of propane from bulk storage to propane truck; connect transfer hoses; operate the transfer system; monitor flow gauges to 85 capacity and monitor the overflow gauges; when the transfer is completed remove and secure hoses to the truck; and prepare truck for transport.
  • Establish most efficient and effective daily routes to deliver propane to customers. Upon arrival prepare truck for transfer of propane visually inspect customers propane tank gauges regulators and lines for defects and safety problems; perform leak tests on propane lines as necessary; set flow meter; connect hoses to customer tanks; operate the transfer system to fill tank to required or requested amounts in gallons or to a maximum of 85 capacity; monitor overflow gauges; shut off values when transfer is completed; secure hoses to truck; prepare delivery tickets from onboard computer and leave copy with customer.
  • Inspects and conducts propane service repairs; informs customers and Energy Manager of any problems found; replaces or makes repairs on defective parts or establishes a return time with customer to make repairs to propane tank; upon completion of repairs conducts pressure and leak tests for all propane lines for compliance; recharge the customers propane services; complete pressure and leak test documentation and file with the Energy Business Unit.
  • May perform new propane tank installations. Conduct onsite inspection and assessment of propane tank location to meet federal and local code regulations; deliver propane tanks on tank mover truck; operate boom truck to unload and load propane tanks; properly set propane tank on permanent placement pads blocks or other appropriate footing; operate trencher to make appropriate trench for propane service line; install propane service line and fill and compact trenched ditch; attach service line from propane tank to customers service; perform pressure tests from propane tank to customer appliance to meet federal regulations; turn propane service on and check for leaks recharge customers system and monitor performance and perform any needed cleanup.
  • Serves on an oncall rotation to respond to afterofficehour emergency calls for outofpropane service requests and/or propane odor complaints.


Job skills and requirements:

  • Customer service safely transport a variety of energy products perform manual labor follow safety protocols time management problemsolving and analyzing information.
  • Operate safely a variety of commercial vehicles trenchers; boom trucks; hose couplers; pneumatic and hand tools; bench tools; computers and company software programs.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or electronic form; read and interpret work orders batch loads gauges meters directional and plot maps safety rules DOT regulations weigh tickets load and delivery tickets operating and maintenance procedure manuals and instructions.
  • Able to write and record D.O.T. inspection and maintenance reports mileage and fuel reports complete work orders and general correspondence.
  • Perform basic math computations. Such as; add subtract multiply divide proportions percentages and volume.
