Job Description
Biotechnology Laboratory Technician
American International University Kuwait City

American International University (AIU) seeks an enthusiastic energetic Biotechnology Laboratory Technician. The successful candidate will oversee the operation of the biology and anatomy labs as well as support other relevant labs where necessary e.g. physiology and ensure they are in operational condition. He/she will apply knowledge of scientific laboratory procedures and techniques in performing a broad range of duties related to the daytoday operations of laboratories including: the setup and takedown of experiments; overseeing maintenance of equipment and facilities; monitoring and maintaining consumable stock levels; storage functions; supporting lab classes; and implementing health and safety processes and procedures.
Primary Function:
To fill this position we seek a highly motivated and welltrained scientist to ensure effective and safe operation of lab facilities. The successful candidate will conduct lab preparation and maintenance ensure lab safety and compliance and support lab classes where necessary. The successful candidate will also display a dedication to inclusive excellence and a culture of diversity in science and higher education.
Responsibilities:
- Set up laboratory equipment to ensure successful delivery of teaching sessions in support of the class instructor.
- Prepare materials and instrumentations following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
- Liaise with relevant faculty and instructors regarding laboratory sessions.
- Ensure the accurate inventory of lab equipment and materials and maintain required consumable levels inline with teaching requirements.
- Ensure safety and maintenance of equipment materials and laboratory at all times.
- Perform other technical duties related to laboratory activities as required.
- Provide technical assistance to faculty and students.
- Support lab sessions in Biologyrelated disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor or twoyears of engineering technology degree.
- Excellent oral and written English
- Minimum of 3 years work experience as a laboratory Technician in a biology lab or in a higher educational setup.
- Knowledge and skills in laboratory practices relevant to field.
- Experience in preparing and performing Molecular biology and Biotechnology experiments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Sound understanding of technologies that support educational development and current knowledge of technology advances in relation to laboratory practice.
