POSITION DESCRIPTIONIntern (City Managers Office)
The City of Goleta has an internship opportunity in the City Managers Office. This opportunity will offer firsthand experience in public administration through a dynamic internship that offers a behindthescenes look at local government operations strategic planning and policy development. Interns will work closely with city leadership contribute to meaningful projects and develop valuable skills in communication research and civic engagement. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in public service urban planning economics or political science.
This internship is planned for the summer months (beginning after 7/1/2025 and may extend through the Fall semester for a period no longer than six 6 months.
ABOUT THE CITY
The City of Goleta is a thriving community with a current population of 33000 located on the south coast of Santa Barbara County approximately 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles and just ten miles west of downtown Santa Barbara. Stretching approximately eight square miles along a beautiful coastline within a narrow coastal plain Goleta is a place of exceptional natural beauty nestled between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.Typical Qualifications
Interns must meet one of the following criteria:
- Enrolled fulltime or parttime in an undergraduate graduate or doctoral degree program at an accredited college or university OR
- Obtained an undergraduate graduate or doctoral degree. OR
- Meet requirements as stipulated for an educational certification or licensure program.
Supplemental Information
Schedule:Interns work a flexible schedule agreed upon with the City and intern. Interns will be limited to not more than 999 hours in any July through June fiscal year. Weekly schedule and hours are flexible and are to be coordinated between the City and the intern.
Classification and Salary:Interns will be paid an hourly wage as established by the City Council and shall not be eligible for other City benefits.
