Job Description
Assistant Professor of Finance
Beginning August 2025
POSITION SUMMARY. The Francis J. Noonan School of Business Engineering and Innovation at Loras College invites applicants for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant Professor position in Finance available August 2025. The Finance major at Loras is recognized by the CFA Institute as a University Affiliate Program. Additionally a minor in Financial Planning and Wealth Management meets the educational requirements of the CFP Board. Combined with the CPA prep curriculum of the Accounting major this makes Loras the rare small private college providing all three opportunities to students. The number of finance majors at the college has continued its upward trajectory and is one of the largest on campus.
The teaching load is 24 credits per academic year although firstyear faculty have a 21credit load. The exact Finance courses beyond Managerial Finance taught will depend on the candidates areas of expertise and the needs of the major although there is a strong preference for candidates with analytics aptitude and the ability to teach Analytics courses in both Finance and the Business Analytics program. Development of new Finance major electives in line with the candidates expertise would be welcomed. The successful candidate will be an individual committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. M.B.A. or Masters degree in finance or financial economics or related field is required. A doctorate in finance financial economics or a related field is desirable. Collegelevel teaching experience preferred. Professional designation (CFA/CFP) and/or industry experience desirable.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION. The Noonan School of Business Engineering and Innovation consists of 30 fulltime faculty members and offers majors in Engineering Mathematics Finance Analytics etc.
THE COLLEGE. Founded in 1839 Loras College is a Catholic primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution that includes preprofessional and career preparation programs as well as several graduate programs. THE COMMUNITY. Loras Colleges 60acre campus is located on one of Dubuques highest bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River at the junction of the states of Iowa Illinois and Wisconsin about 3 hours west of Chicago. Dubuques population is approximately 60000 and its nineteenthcentury architecture is woven into limestone bluffs and provides a picturesque backdrop to the river landscape. Many residential and commercial areas have been designated as historical districts to preserve Dubuques unique heritage. Its strong education base supports numerous cultural activities and in addition there are sporting events shopping facilities schools and churches that are convenient to its residents. The climate has marked seasons with a comfortable summer cool spring and fall and a winter that encourages a variety of sports that have in recent years attracted a growing tourism industry.
