As a Staff Embedded Software Engineer the qualifying candidate will be part of the Embedded Software App team in developing sustaining and supporting firmware and platforms for across Flukes product line. Working on this team will be involved in the development of challenging cuttingedge embedded software for handheld and benchtop instruments used in test and measurement calibration networking infrared/acoustic imaging and power quality. Our embedded software enables our customers to visualize diagnose track calibrate and report issues using a wide range of Fluke products. The ideal candidate will bring an aptitude for bridging platforms to provide our customers with the best products in the world.
This candidate will have overall responsibility for designing and implementing embedded software application solutions for our products. They will develop effective efficient and reliable embedded software during project phases. They will continuously design develop and improve the existing embedded software platform to meet the needs of our customers and maintain a robust modern development environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as technical leader for major development projection or multiple simultaneous projects
- Assignments include development of new applications features enhancements modifications and corrections to existing firmware.
- Designing and developing embedded software for various hardware platforms including microcontrollers and processors.
- Writing efficient reliable and optimized code in C/C and other programming languages for embedded systems to ensure system functionality and reliability.
- Developing software that meets performance reliability and scalability standards.
- Participating in system architecture design and contributing to technical decisionmaking.
- Working with Linux OS/ARM core processor
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation for software development and testing.
- Documenting software design coding practices and maintenance procedures.
- Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals
- Provide mentorship and work direction to junior engineers
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree/Master of Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or similar technical field of study with a strong embedded firmware/software development background.
- Experience with Agilebased development process preferably some flavor of Scrum on multiple projects.
- 8 years experience developing software for technical products experience with full software lifecycle
- 8 years of experience as an embedded software developer with solid knowledge of embedded systems architecture.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux and other embedded platforms.
- Good understanding of debugging and testing embedded systems including hardwareintheloop (HIL) testing.
- Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work with hardware/software interfaces.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Experience in leading small and/or large embedded software teams
- Ability to work independently and multitask
Desired Skills:
- Experience with C17 or newer.
- Experience with Yocto Project Docker Containers and Build systems
- Knowledge/Development experience with ARM core processors
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART SPI I2C CAN or Ethernet.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools like Jira.
- Experience with various communication network protocols network theory and HTTP
