Job Description

Archaeology Field Director Needed Fulltime: 40 hours per week


Broadbent & Associates Inc. is seeking curriculum vitae from qualified candidates for an Archaeology Field Director (Project Archaeologist) in Reno NV. This is a permanent fulltime salaried position. Candidates may have a specialty in historical industrial or prehistoric archaeology. The successful candidate will be expected to manage cultural resources fieldwork projects in Nevada California Utah Colorado and Arizona communicate effectively with the field crew record and evaluate the full range of cultural resources typically found in the Great Basin and surrounding regions participate on survey excavation and monitoring projects safely drive field vehicles and read topographic maps for navigation in the field. While the successful candidate will work from Broadbents Reno office they will actively collaborate with the larger cultural resources team. The candidate must demonstrate a mix of office and field skills.


Broadbent is an engineering and environmental consulting company founded in 1987. With over 140 employees Broadbent serves a range of clients from in the western United States. Broadbents cultural resources team currently includes five professional fulltime staff in our Reno office a fulltime architectural historian in Phoenix Arizona and two fulltime archaeologists in our Denver office. The cultural resources department is led by Ms. Margo Memmott out of the Reno office. Our cultural resources team is supported by an ArcGIS/Database Specialist Broadbents administrative staff and an additional network of temporary/seasonal field staff.


Minimum Requirements

  • A. or B.S. in Archaeology Anthropology or a closely related field
  • Qualify as a Crew Chief or Principal Investigator Statewide in Nevada or one or more neighboring states for federally issued Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) permits Cultural Resources Use Permits (CRUP) and State permits
  • Training and experience implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Three years of experience working in a consulting company state agency or federal agency
  • Ability to perform both fieldwork and office activities independently and with a team
  • Experience with data entry producing site forms and professional communication such as emails and letters.

Compensation

Weekly schedule of 40 hours. Flexible work location hybrid workfromhome or office. Outoftown fieldwork as required. Annual salary is between $52000 and $70000 (based on 40hour week) commensurate with education training and experience.
