The Department of Labor and Workforce Development Division of Employment and Training Services is recruiting for an
Employment Services Technician 1/2 located in Anchorage!
No Cover Letter Required!




This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15.


What You Will Be Doing:
Employment Services Technicians provide core services regarding employment reemployment and employer services to job seekers employers and partner agencies. This positions assigned duties include administering State Apprenticeship Expansion Equity and innovation Grant (SAEEI) State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula Program (SAEF) and Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title 1B Programs and State Training and Employment Program (STEP). The aim of the WIOA and STEP programs is to provide employment and training services to overcome barriers to employment through the administration of state and federal grant funding. This position provides a variety of services to employers and apprentices which include but are not limited to understanding registered apprenticeship assistance with becoming a registered apprenticeship sponsor workforce preparation labor market research and management of apprentices on caseload.

You will have the opportunity to represent the Midtown Job Center at official functions and to market our services at civic and community events. The work schedule is Monday Friday between the hours of 8am 5pm and consists of 7.5 hour days within a 37.5 hour workweek. Upon passing probation you will be eligible for an Alternate Work Week Schedule that will provide every other Friday or Monday off.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Eagle Street Job Center has plenty of free parking and is surrounded by restaurants and grocery stores which makes getting out of the office for lunch or a short break very convenient and time efficient. This customer servicedriven position involves extensive contact with the public to present information regarding services provided through the Job Center Network.

Qualifications


Employment Services Technician Level 2:
One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Two years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies procedures services or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs refunds taxes or benefits; providing written explanations summaries reports or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation ticketing or application systems.

THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This is a flexibly staffed position with the opportunity to advance to Level 2 upon managements assessment that the incumbent is performing adequately and has successfully completed training as an Employment Services Technician 1.

DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid drivers license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
