Overview
We are hiring at UofL Health South Hospital
Location: 1903 W. Hebron Ln.
Shepherdsville KY 40165
Shift: Full time 630a5p 40hrs/week CALL REQUIRED
About Us:
UofL Health is investing in the health of Bullitt County and the surrounding area with an expansion of UofL Health Medical Center South to become an inpatient hospital UofL Health South Hospital. South Hospital is expected to open in early 2024 and will add approximately 100000 square feet of new space to the existing facility. South Hospital will include a 10bed intensive care unit medical/surgical patient rooms six operating rooms new cardiac catheterization lab expanded emergency department centralized sterile processing area laboratory pharmacy cardiopulmonary respiratory therapy and more.

Responsibilities
Job Summary:
A surgical technician is responsible for assisting the operating room team during operative procedures in accordance with internal standards and procedures. Work includes arranging and inventorying sterile setup for operations passing items as needed to the operating team assisting in the preparation and moving of patients and in the cleanup of the operating room. An incumbent carries out assigned activities under direct supervision and direction of a qualified practitioner.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assembles instruments sterile supplies and equipment specific to surgical procedures.
- Scrubs for varied surgical procedures encompassing each surgical specialty and emergency procedures demonstrating versatility and competency while maintaining sterile technique and performing surgical counts.
- Institutes cleaning reprocessing and storage of instruments and equipment.
- Assists in transfer and positioning of patients as directed by surgeon or circulating nurse.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
- You must have education/training from one of the following:
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technician vocational or technical program/school.
- Completion of a UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program.
- Completion of hospital based surgical technologist training program.
- Graduate of a military training program in surgical technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Surgical tech certification
- Prior Patient Care Experience.
- Demonstrated competence in the surgical technician role.
