Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
ENVIRONMENT:
Our client is redefining the parking industry by transforming parking lots into smart digital spaces. Their advanced technology leverages license plate recognition management software and digital payments to deliver seamless parking experiences. Based in Cape Town they are rapidly scaling across South Africa and expanding internationally. They are looking for a talented Backend Engineer skilled in Python Django and DevOps to join their fastgrowing team. This role involves scaling their core platform improving existing features and developing new ones to support an expanding user base. Ideal candidates thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about solving complex technical challenges.
DUTIES:
- Develop & Scale: Design develop and maintain robust scalable database architectures using Python and Django.
- API Integration: Build and optimize RESTful APIs to seamlessly integrate with IoT devices thirdparty systems and internal tools.
- Performance & Reliability: Ensure application reliability performance optimization and high availability at scale.
- Code Quality: Write clean efficient and welldocumented code while adhering to best practices.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Strategic Influence: Participate in architectural decisions and help shape the platforms technical roadmap.
- DevOps & AWS: Lead and contribute to DevOps processes deployments and AWS service management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelors degree from recognised University (or equivalent) in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 4 years as a Python developer with extensive experience in Django.
- API Expertise: Proven track record of designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Database Knowledge: Strong proficiency with databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and ORM frameworks.
- Agile Background: Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Cloud Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and DevOps tools.
Bonus Skills:
- Exposure to frontend frameworks (e.g. Flutter).
- Knowledge of AI IDEs and machine learning concepts.
