Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Security Therapy Aide 3 for the Chester Mental Health Center located in Chester Illinois to serve as designated lead worker on an assigned shift on an assigned unit to monitor staff engaged in dispensing therapeutic custodial care to mentally ill patients in a maximumsecurity environment. Monitors subordinates in the processing of new admissions. Advises Security Therapy Aide IVs and members of professional staff in the basic therapeutic care to patients. Serves as overall assistant to Security Therapy Aide IVs. Inspects the facility for cleanliness sanitation safety and security.
Essential Functions
- On an assigned shift on an assigned unit monitors staff engaged in dispensing therapeutic custodial care to mentally ill patients in a maximumsecurity environment.
- Serves as designated lead worker.
- Assigns and monitors activities of the Security Therapy Aides in the observation treatment development and rehabilitation of mentally ill patients.
- Monitors subordinates in the processing of new admissions.
- Inspects the facility for cleanliness sanitation safety and security.
- Provides administrative suggestions regarding problems or questions that arise on units.
- Assists in the movement of patients inside and outside the facility.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires one 1 year supervisory experience in security therapy work including successful completion of an approved Security Therapy Aide Training Program or equivalent experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to physically restrain patients as necessary to prevent injury to the patient or others.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours weekends and holidays.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment including personal computers.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
