Job Description

Thrive is advertising this position for Downtown Tulsa Partnership a nonprofit client working to improve Downtown Tulsa.

The Opportunity:

The Public Realm Manager is responsible for supporting and enhancing Downtown Tulsas streets landscaped areas and open public spaces. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about urban planning public space management and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a selfstarter who thrives in fieldwork demonstrates strong time management and problemsolving skills and excels in communication and systems management.

Serving as the boots on the ground the Public Realm Manager will provide critical oversight of and improvements to Downtowns public spaces in alignment with DTPs mission and vision and planning documents like Downtown Tulsa Forward. This role incumbent will directly influence how Downtown Tulsa looks feels and functions and will implement meaningful and lasting change.

Essential Responsibilities:

Public Realm Operations 70

  • Work closely with stakeholders and the City of Tulsa to ensure a clean green and safe public realm through outreach communication and the development of actionable monitoring plans.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of public realm maintenance and improvements including lighting landscaping tree management street furniture & banners and pedestrian improvements.
  • Oversee public space maintenance contracts and contractor and customer relationships to ensure timely maintenance and improvements.
  • Coordinate maintenance with DTP Field Operations Team and contractors as needed.
  • Monitor and assess the condition of public spaces throughout the district identifying opportunities for improvement and working with contractors and vendors to address issues.
  • Serve as a liaison between property owners businesses and the community to address public realm concerns and foster collaborative solutions.
  • Serve as liaison to City of Tulsa to coordinate impacts of ROW construction special events and parking & transportation and address operational challenges and opportunities.
  • Engage with public and private construction projects as needed and through the Citys permitting and license agreement process to ensure safety and accessibility.
  • Track utility usage and changes over time to optimize efficiency and identify costsaving opportunities.
  • Develop programs to meet the needs of businesses and property owners including tree replacement sidewalk curb and driveway improvements.

Data Management and Reporting 20

  • Conduct regular field assessments and maintain an uptodate asset management database.
  • Track and analyze data related to public space maintenance and performance.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders and DTP leadership.

Project and Program Coordination 10

  • Work with internal teams to align public realm initiatives with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Support the of placemaking projects and public art initiatives to enhance Downtown Tulsas identity and vibrancy.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities for stakeholders to engage in public realm maintenance work.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelors degree in urban planning engineering data analysis landscape architecture public administration or a related field plus at least three years of relevant work experience; two years of relevant work experience with a masters degree.
  • Track record of strong project management and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing public space projects landscape maintenance or construction preferred.
  • Exemplary relationshipbuilding skills to foster trust and collaboration with community members public entities and private organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with GIS mapping and database management required.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic fastpaced environment and a passion for placemaking urban revitalization and/or community development.

Work Environment:

This position is based in the DTP office during normal business hours with significant time spent outdoors in the field. Evening and weekend hours will occasionally be required with scheduling flexibility afforded in discussion with your supervisor and in accordance with policies. The work environment is collaborative and dynamic offering exposure to impactful projects that shape Downtown Tulsa. The role involves physical activity including the ability to lift and move objects up to 45 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

DTP offers competitive salaries excellent benefits paid time off and holidays and industry and professionspecific professional development. This is an exempt salaried position in the range of $61000 to $67000 annually commensurate with demonstrated experience.
