Job Summary (Main Purpose)
Oversee and coordinate The company s biomedical engineering function ensuring the optimal performance safety and compliance of medical equipment. Oversees procurement maintenance and technology upgrades to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Performance Management
- Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all medical equipment.
- Ensure the calibration testing and validation of biomedical devices to maintain operational efficiency.
- Implement predictive maintenance using AIdriven diagnostics and IoTbased monitoring systems.
- Work closely with medical teams to ensure equipment availability and reliability in patient care.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance (e.g. ISO standards COHSASA) and other medical device regulations.
- Conduct internal audits risk assessments and safety inspections of biomedical equipment.
- Work with hospital leadership to maintain accreditation requirements for medical technology.
- Develop policies for safe usage handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
& Vendor Management
- Liaise with the procurement department to ensure time delivery and execute procurement strategy to ensure costeffective acquisition of highquality medical devices.
- Negotiate contracts with biomedical equipment suppliers and service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance through service level agreements (SLAs) and compliance checks.
- Oversee the implementation of new biomedical technology ensuring seamless integration with hospital systems.
& Technology Integration
- Lead the adoption of AIpowered diagnostics roboticassisted surgeries and smart medical devices.
- Oversee the integration of biomedical equipment with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital IT systems.
- Work with research teams to evaluate emerging healthcare technologies and clinical innovations.
- Develop pilot programs for digital health and AIdriven patient monitoring solutions.
Engagement & Staff Training
- Part of the company Committees Theatre Committee SHEQ Committee QA Radiology Committee Multi disciplinary Committee SMT
- Provide training programs for clinical teams and technical staff on the proper use of medical equipment.
- Collaborate with doctors and nurses to identify equipment needs and performance challenges.
- Represent The company Uganda in medical technology forums industry conferences and innovation networks related to biomedical engineering.
- Work with insurance and financial teams to ensure costeffective investments in biomedical assets.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Master s degree in Biomedical Engineering Healthcare Technology Management or Business Administration (MBA).
- Bachelor s or Master s in Clinical Engineering Medical Physics or Electrical Engineering is relevant.
- Certification in CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) or
Healthcare Facilities Management is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 7 years experience in a biomedical engineering role with at least 2 years in a managerial/supervisory position.
- Experience in hospitalbased equipment procurement compliance and technology integration.
Technical Competence
- Expertise in medical equipment lifecycle management predictive maintenance and regulatory compliance.
- Professional certifications in biomedical equipment technology (preferred).
- Strong understanding of medical device regulations and compliance standards.
- Proven experience in equipment design testing or maintenance.
Behavioral Competence
- Strong leadership in healthcare technology management and innovation.
- High ability to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Strategic mindset in procurement cost optimization and digital transformation.
