Role Type: W2 Contractor
Status: U.S. Citizen Green Card Holder
Note: We are unable to partner on a corptocorp (C2C) basis
Term: 6 months possible extension
Start Date: May/June
Availability: Flexible working hours including nights and weekends
Travel requirements: 95100
What Youll Do
As a nonexempt/hourly employee at Burwood the Field Services Technician is an entry level position in technology implementation and is part of our Professional Services Enterprise Networking team. This role provides an opportunity for learning and development of technical and consultative skills while working alongside our Consultants and Burwood project team members. Individuals will be expected to develop a broad base of knowledge and become wellrounded in several technologies.
In this role the Field Services Technician has the following responsibilities:
- Learn and develop technical and soft skills
- Provide technical support on various client projects
- Follow the direction and guidance from team leaders and mentors
- Work cohesively with other Burwood Group project team members and coworkers
- Complete client site assessment surveys accurately and comprehensively
- Document and inventory all onsite technology to prep for network/server stack cutovers and possible lowvoltage/highvoltage upgrades
- Conduct LiDAR and Ekahau assessments for client sites to provide wireless heatmapping proposals
- Facilitate the installation and configuration of new network equipment racks workstation deployments and other technology infrastructure upgrades
- Act as an onsite liaison for remote engineers clearly communicating any issues or required adjustments for facilitating site cutovers
- Perform basic troubleshooting for common issues such as label printing problems VLAN identification and miscellaneous. Hardware/software troubleshooting
- Review site instructions before arrival and ensure all tools and equipment are prepared and functional
- Collect and document detailed notes and photographs of completed work
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism and decorum in all client interactions
Qualifications :
Who You Are
- Follow all sitespecific protocols and safety guidelines
- You have practical experience working in IT professional services or customer support organizations
- You have an education and/or background in Telecom network/systems administration or a related field; ideal candidates will be technical and energetic with an interest in business
- You have a strong interest in developing technical and consulting skills
- You are comfortable interacting and presenting in front of customers
- You are able to build strong relationships
- You are detailoriented and do not leave anything to chance
- You are a selfstarter with the ability to prioritize time and commitments
- You like to work in a projectbased team environment
- You are willing to frequently travel to customer sites
- You are able to manage your travel plans independently (hotel airfare rental car etc.
- You are willing to frequently work nights and weekends to facilitate site cutovers
- You are flexible to support short notice schedule changes and scheduling complexities
The Tech Stuff
- Familiarity with network equipment (routers switches access points) and basic network configuration
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as console cables cable toners punchdown tools and multimeters
- Ability to rack and stack network equipment workstations and related hardware
- Comfortable with troubleshooting common IT issues and providing clear communication to remote engineers
