Job Description

What will you be doing 

Are you ready to play a critical role in the design of nextgen nuclear infrastructure As a Fire Engineer youll help shape the safety backbone of groundbreaking nuclear projects. Youll be working in a multidisciplinary environment where innovation safety and resilience come together to create solutions that stand the test of time.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Defining requirements for fire safety systemsevacuation alarms suppression smoke control and compartmentalisationfor complex nuclear infrastructures.
  • Developing fire safety strategies and technical documentation that keep people and infrastructure safe.
  • Leading ALARP demonstrations gap analysis and code/standards evaluations for nuclearspecific hazards.
  • Creating fire system design documentation (requirements P&IDs equipment lists sizing calcs).
  • Collaborating across engineering teams to deliver highquality outputs on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring all designs go through technical reviews and meet nucleargrade quality standards.

Who are we looking for 

  • Knowledge of fire hazards in complex or nuclear environments.
  • Handson experience designing fire systems (alarms suppression barriers detection).
  • Familiar with BS9999 and nuclearspecific fire protection codes.
  • Comfortable justifying deviations from standards or identifying safetyrelated gaps.
  • Experience working on safetyled projects and delivering against structured programmes.
  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecyclefrom concept through to detailed design and review gates.

Qualifications :

Experience skills and qualifications required: 

  • Degree in Fire Engineering Mechanical Engineering Nuclear engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in nuclear or highly regulated environments is preferred.
  • Strong writing skillsable to produce clear strategies design documents and technical justifications.
  • Organised detailoriented and confident in leading technical discussions.
