Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Gardener on a 7month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 12.59 15.99 per Hour
Summary:
The Gardener will carry out a wide range of practical amenity horticultural tasks to meet the highest standards required by the Grounds Maintenance Specification. This includes responsibilities across planting maintenance and landscaping duties to enhance green spaces throughout Newport.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake grass cutting strimming hedge trimming and leaf/litter clearing
- Plant bedding plants shrubs and trees
- Perform shrub bed maintenance such as pruning and division
- Apply chemicals for /pest control
- Maintain set out and mark sports facilities
- Conduct soft landscaping tasks (topsoiling cultivation shrubbed renewal etc.
- Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and vehicles in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
Qualification/Experience:
- NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture or equivalent or Minimum of two years practical experience in Grounds Maintenance
Essentials:
- Full current UK driving licence (essential)
- Spraying certificate (essential)
- Knowledge of horticultural equipment plant identification and Health & Safety regulations

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
