Job Highlights
Youth Apprentices in our Phlebotomist career pathway help to provide a welcoming environment to patients and assist with specimen collection all while ensuring a safe work environment. Youll partner with a licensed/certified professional who will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role.
Job Details
Effectively work as part of a team communicate effectively with close attention to details
Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program
Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors school staff parent(s) or guardian(s) and employer
Assist with patient check in assuring two identifiers are used to confirm identity
Deliver samples to the laboratory and perform administrative duties to support the department including the cleaning and maintenance of collection area and equipment
Under the direction of an experienced professional and upon completed training assist with the collection and preparation of blood and other specimens
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Must be entering senior year of high school (minimum age: 16
Must be enrolled in a Phlebotomy program at a Career Tech institution supporting the apprenticeship
Reliable transportation to get to and from work
Satisfactory progress towards graduation
Commit to completing 400 hours at the job site over the 202526 academic year
Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
Skill with attending to details excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
