The Raytheon Missile and Defense (RMD) Radar Structures & Advanced Materials (ASM) leads in mechanical hardware design development and production of radar sonar torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses stateof theart tools processes technology and RMDs Six Sigma principles. MPTs capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering manufacturing technical services materials processes analysis test and documentation.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design development and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems hardware integration cable & interconnections as well as facility development and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design integration and production support.

The ADGE department is looking for a fulltime Senior Mechanical Engineer located in Tewksbury MA (Onsite)

What You Will Do

  • Perform mechanical design development and documentation of components subassemblies and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements

  • Mechanical design development and documentation of cables harnesses and connectors to meet defense system requirements

  • Key contributor to small to midsized cross functional teams as a technical lead through all phases of development from proposal generation program start up requirements allocation preliminary and detailed design development and production

  • Handson lead and mentor to the engineering team as a technical expert within the integrated product team environment

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines nontechnical disciplines and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges

  • Work with limited supervision and meet technical schedule and monetary commitments

  • Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions

  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment

  • Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers. Take an active role in understanding what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front

  • Drawing generation drawing release and drawing change incorporation

  • Working with manufacturing and suppliers to evaluate technical change requests


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience.

  • Experience in designing and developing cables and harnesses preferably for use in Military environments defense and/or commercial systems.

  • Experience with CAD design (CREO AutoCAD preferred)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Military cable and electromechanical system design/troubleshooting experience

  • ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience

  • Strong CAD design experience (CREO AutoCAD preferred)

  • Experience with CREO for creating Cable models and drawings

  • Experience with PDM/Windchill or similar product data management tool
