The GRCC Police Dispatcher supports the work of the GRCC Police Department with a focus on the safety and security of our campus. The primary function of a Police Dispatcher at GRCC is the communication link between the community members and officers providing assistance.

Essential Job Functions
- Operate a multifrequency radio console for the purpose of dispatching police units and to give and receive information from police units and other law enforcement agencies
- Operate a multiline telephone for the purpose of answering incoming calls and making proper disposition on each of them place calls as needed to relay information obtain emergency medical services and wreckers etc.
- Become certified by the Michigan Department of State Police in order to operate the Law Enforcement / National Crime Information Center information system
- Maintain and file ledger or reports
- Maintain communications equipment and report malfunctions
- Participate in training programs to keep informed of division procedures.
- Function as initial contact for walkin visitors
- Project a professional image including punctuality dependability and good attendance records
- Excellent organizational skills ability to multitask prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Willingness and ability to learn the collegewide system
- Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of the position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education/License
- High School graduate from an accredited high school or GED equivalent
Work Experience
- Prior Public Safety dispatching experience preferred
