Job Description

We are potentially hiring for a qualified Speech Pathologist to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our veterans and their families at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield CA.

  • Status: Part time (Oncall as required by clinic)

  • Schedule: The contractor will be expected to be on call approximately 60 days out of every calendar year responsible to cover the current civilian speechlanguage pathologist when she is on approved civilian leave. When on call the oncall speech pathologist will be expected to respond with a treatment plan communicated to the consulting team(s) within 24 hours of receipt of consultation. The oncall speech pathologist will be oncall only Monday Friday during the duty day and not expected to cover weekends. The contractor will not work holidays or down days as the current civilian speechlanguage pathologist does not cover these days.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Masters degree in speech pathology or communication disorders.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university that includes at least 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology by a regional accreditation organization and a speech pathology academic program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American SpeechLanguage Pathology (CAA) of the American SpeechLanguageHearing Association (ASHA).
  • Certification: Maintain current certification of Clinical Competency in speechlanguage pathology (CCCSLP) from ASHA.
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements as specified in the servicespecific credentialing instruction.
  • Licensure: Current full active and unrestricted license to practice as a speech pathologist as required in the TO.

Core Duties:

  • Develop coherent treatment strategies.
  • Incorporate new clinical procedures sufficient to perform clinical services independently.
  • Conduct patient assessments; provide treatment interventions and consultation to other health care professionals.
  • Use instrumentation (e.g. videofluoroscopy nasendoscopy stroboscopy computer technology) to observe collect data and measure parameters of communication and swallowing or other upper aerodigestive functions in accordance with the principles of evidencebased practice.
  • Provide prevention screening consultation assessment and diagnostic treatment intervention management counseling and followup services for disorders of speech and language including comprehension and expression in oral written graphic and manual modalities.
