At Trinity (a subsidiary of Bird Construction) we create relationships where trust is a value that proves our pledge to safety:Installation & Splicing:
Install aerial and underground fiber optic cables.
Perform splicing and termination of fiber optic cables using fusion or mechanical splicing techniques.
Set up network equipment enclosures and patch panels.
Testing & Troubleshooting:
Use OTDR power meters and light source testers to test fiber links.
Identify and resolve network faults and service disruptions.
Perform continuity loss and reflectance testing.
Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fiber networks.
Document test results splicing diagrams and asbuilt records accurately.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all industry standards and local health and safety regulations.
Use appropriate PPE and worksite protocols including working at heights and in confined spaces.
Customer Service:
Interact with customers and clients in a professional manner.
Provide updates on job progress and service delivery timelines.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification or diploma in Telecommunications Electronics or related field preferred.
5 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
Experience with fiber splicing and testing equipment (e.g. OTDR fusion splicers).
Knowledge of fiber optic theory color codes and standards.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and network diagrams.
Proficient with hand tools power tools and fiber preparation tools.
Valid Ontario drivers license (G class or higher).
Willingness to travel within Ontario.
Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends when needed.
Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory but a plus):
FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician)
OSP Certification (Outside Plant)
Working at Heights WHMIS First Aid or confined space certification
