Job Description

THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO UPPERCLASSMEN ONLY. FRESHMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POSITION. This is a full academic year position.


Expected hours of work per week: 1020

Work Location & Hours: Mill 110 unless otherwise directed; Mon Fri; 8am10pm

Qualifications for Position:

  • Prior experience in A/V work.
  • Additional experience in music or electronics preferred.
  • Responsible for completing satisfactory work with little or no supervision.
  • Flexibility with rapidly changing objectives and drifting event times.
  • Good personal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments
  • Someone who will commit to 1015 hours per week.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support faculty and students using AV equipment in the classroom by troubleshooting problems that occur during class times professionally.
  • Follow procedures for daily testing of the equipment in classrooms to ensure that it is working correctly.
  • Log support tickets for any AV issues that are reported closing those that are resolved and routing to a tier 2 technician any that need further work.
  • Complete clerical tasks assigned by the Chief Information Officer or the AVClassroom Specialist including but not limited to reporting on inventory updating schedules etc.
  • Complete routine tasks related to AV such as soldering cables and connections editing audio and video and archiving recordings.
  • Attend any scheduled departmental studentemployee meetings.
  • Fulfill other such duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer or the AV Classroom Specialist.

Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting; Remaining in the seated position
  • Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) 2550 lbs.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly
  • The office is located in Mills 110. The office hours are Mondays through Thursdays 8:00 am 10:00 pm Fridays 8:00 am 4:30 pm.
