Job Description

NOGAPP Residency Program Application for East Georgia Health Center


SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of a staff physician and within the established protocols the Nurse Practitioner performs assessment and treatment of chronic and acute medical conditions. Tasks delegated to be performed by the Nurse Practitioner will be adequately monitored by the supervising physician who will take full responsibility for these tasks. As a recognized patientcentered medical home (PCMH) every employee is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of quality comprehensive patientcentered care as a member of the patients care team. By performing the job expectations described below you will be an active member of the care team thereby patients are assured access to teambased coordinated comprehensive quality care.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following)

  • Adheres to the established protocols for standards and limits to clinical care delivery
  • Obtains a detailed patient history and records the finding in the patient record
  • Performs systematic and thorough physical examinations
  • Orders performs or schedules laboratory and specialty diagnostic studies
  • Telephones prescription orders with the exception of Schedule II
  • Prescribes with DEA number written prescription orders schedule III V
  • Performs emergency care
  • Provides patient counseling on health habits exercise tobacco alcohol etc.
  • Provides supportive counseling as needed
  • Provides patient education on diet use of physical adjuncts to therapy (nebulizer vaporizer etc. prenatal instructions child care instructions etc.
  • Telephone contact with patients for followup and triage
  • Participates in community health promotion and disease prevention projects
  • Represents center at various professional and community functions
  • Participates in the corporations Quality Assurance program
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides consultation and direction to supportive clinical personnel.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. >Thorough knowledge of techniques and skills used in examination diagnosis and or physically ill or injured patients

>Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with patients other professional employees and the general public

>Effective oral and written communication skills

  • CV/Resume (include any special certifications/trainings anticipated graduation date and certification date if not already certified)

  • Evidence of your status in a graduate program if still in school (e.g. transcripts)

  • Copy of BLS card

  • Two Letters of Recommendation sent to

  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination


Requirements Prior to Program Start Date:

  • National Board Certification required for FNP prior to start of residency program. Please note that you do not need these prior to the interview process.

  • GA license for NPs as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

  • Be a licensed GA RN within 18 months of graduate school completion

  • Receive COVID19 vaccine

FAQ

  1. This is a paid residency program and a fulltime employment commitment.

  2. At this time we are unable to cover moving expenses.

  3. Malpractice coverage will be provided.

  4. Participants in the FNP Residency program are not eligible to apply for NHSC or Nurse Corp Loan Repayment programs during the first year of the program the formal Residency year. When that year is finished they may apply for those Loan Repayment programs when the application cycle opens up typically in January of each year.

  5. Participants in the NHSC/Nurse Corp Scholarship Program may defer the start of their service obligation until after the Residency year of their contract is finished. They need to speak with their analyst at their NHSC/Nurse Corp program to put the deferment into effect.
